German Chancellor Angela Merkel said today, Thursday, that there is much more room than there was in the Trump era for political accommodation between Germany and the United States after the inauguration of Joe Biden as president.
“This is clear from looking only at the executive orders signed by (Biden) yesterday,” Merkel said at a press conference, adding that this does not necessarily mean the Berlin-Washington agreement in everything.

She said discussions would take place on how best the two countries could advance their own interests, and that Germany, as well as the European Union, would assume greater diplomatic and military responsibility.
