Minister of Justice: Lebanon received a Swiss request to cooperate in an investigation into the central bank

Beirut – (Reuters):
The Lebanese Minister of Justice said, on Tuesday, that she had received a request for judicial cooperation from the judicial authorities in Switzerland regarding the provision of legal aid regarding a file of financial transfers belonging to the governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh.

Salameh said he would look into the report. He added in statements to “Reuters” that he had no information and would look into the matter. The governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon issued a statement about the incident, stating that “all allegations about alleged financial transfers that he made abroad, whether in his name, in the name of his brother or in the name of his assistance, are fabrications and false news that are baseless.”
