The Sovereignty Council and the government meet today to approve the 2021 budget

Sources in the transitional government in Sudan revealed to Al-Sharq, on Sunday, that the two councils of the Sudanese transitional sovereignty and the government met to approve the general budget for 2021.

The government allows the 2021 budget, as the first budget after removing Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, with an increase in revenues and a deficit less than the previous year’s budget.

Earlier, the cabinet statement indicated that 24 percent of the budget, equivalent to 260 billion pounds (4.73 billion dollars on the basis of the official exchange rate), will be allocated to the families support program, and the other to social security programs.

He added that the tax base will increase by 60 percent and that gold revenues, one of Sudan’s main natural resources, will rise strongly to 100 billion pounds, from 18 billion in 2020.

The transitional government says it has prioritized the health and education sectors in the budget.

The statement stated that the health care sector will receive 9 percent of the budget, or about 100 billion pounds, and added that education will receive 12.5 percent of it, or 137 billion pounds.
