Postponement of the inauguration rehearsal … Fear rules Washington before Biden

Politico newspaper reported Thursday evening, citing two people familiar with the matter, that a rehearsal for US President-elect Joe Biden, which was scheduled for Sunday, was postponed due to security concerns.

The news site said a rehearsal is now scheduled for Monday, just two days before the November presidential election winner will enter the White House.

According to sources quoted by “Politico”, Biden’s team also canceled a train trip scheduled for Monday from Wilmington, Delaware, where the president-elect is staying, to Washington for security reasons.

Security has been tightening in Washington since the attack on Capitol Hill last week by supporters of incumbent President Donald Trump to prevent Congress from ratifying Joe Biden’s victory.

Traditionally, hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to the US federal capital to attend the inauguration ceremony, but the event has been curtailed this year due to the coronavirus health crisis.
