Japan’s prime minister declares a state of emergency in Tokyo until February 7

Tokyo (Reuters):
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced, on Thursday, the imposition of a state of emergency in the capital, Tokyo, and three neighboring provinces to curb the increase in cases of coronavirus.

Suga said at the start of a government meeting to discuss measures to combat Covid-19 disease, that the state of emergency begins tomorrow, Friday, and continues until February 7.
