Colds are easier to catch in the winter

Scientists say that cold weather makes it easier to catch a cold, while research on the conditions for infection with the emerging coronavirus is still under study, with the disease curve rising during the winter months.

CNN quoted a professor of public health at Purdue University in America, Libby Richard, as saying that “rhinoviruses are contagious for a longer period and multiply faster at lower temperatures.”

“That’s why these viruses spread more easily in winter,” Richard added. “Wearing a heavy coat won’t necessarily make a difference.”
