New Yorkers are definitely not known for small talk – and tend to brusquely get straight to the point.
That’s why it’s fairly unsurprising that Ivanka Trump is clearly “not wanted” back in New York City, as she is likely to leave Washington DC after her father’s election defeat.
Earlier this week, a comedy duo “The Good Liars,” hung up “not wanted” posters with Ivanka Trump’s face on them around New York as Trump prepares (hopefully?) to leave the White House.
Plastered around Manhattan, Jason Selvig and Davram Stiefler described the president’s advisor as having a “fake posh” accent.
They also refer to her husband Jared Kushner as “slenderman” – a creepy supernatural character.
While it has been reported that the president’s daughter was likely not return to her hometown in January anyway, this didn’t stop people from sharing their hope that she would stay away from the Big Apple forever. (Prior to Donald Trump taking office, Ivanka was a well-known socialite and businesswoman in New York.)
“New Yorkers are never subtle and they don’t mince words. The Trump Family has never been popular, but the last four years have made it crystal clear,” one person commented about the posters.
Others called the posters, ‘hilarious’, ‘priceless’ and ‘so true’, saying ‘don’t ever come back!’
A Washingtonian also weighed in with a suggestion for Ivanka’s moving plans: “While I do like the posters, I want to make it perfectly clear that here in Washington State, we don’t want her either. So don’t be pushing her this way. Maybe Texas will take her.”
Debates about whether Ivanka and Jared would, or could, return to the city have definitely been a big topic of discussion lately. Earlier this month, the New York Times opinion section shared a piece titled, “Was It Worth It, Jared and Ivanka?” detailing why the couple would never return to their “dinner-party royalty” status in Manhattan.
A former friend of Ivanka’s told Vanity Fair: “…everyone with self-respect, a career, morals, respect for democracy, or who doesn’t want their friends to shame them both in private and public will steer clear.”
Although this New York reaction is fairly predictable, Ivanka will definitely not except a warm welcome should she return.
