Turkey .. The discovery of the 2,500-year-old temple of Aphrodite

The Daily Sabah newspaper announced that archaeologists have discovered the ruins of the 2,500-year-old temple of Aphrodite in the Urla-Chemi peninsula, in western Turkey.

The newspaper indicates that after surveying the lands that include part of the regions of Orla, Cesme and Sivirisar in Izmir province, 35 ancient settlements were discovered, including 16 settlements dating back to the Neolithic period, including the ruins of Aphrodite Temple, which dates back to the sixth century BC.

According to archaeologist Elif Kopral of the Mimar Sinan University of Arts, who supervised the excavations, the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty and passion was one of the most revered deities of the time.

And the archaeologist notes that the first ruins of the temple were discovered in 2016. He thanked the locals who had collaborated with the scientists during these years in protecting the valuable artifacts from smugglers and illegal treasure hunters.
