A South Korean government source said on Thursday that North Korea appears to be holding a military parade marking the eighth session of the ruling Workers’ Party conference.

The military parade began sometime between six in the evening and seven in the evening, Thursday, and was ongoing at eight in the evening, according to the source.

A South Korean military official said that the country’s military is closely monitoring a possible military parade in North Korea.

And North Korea previously held an unprecedented military parade in October last year, marking the 58th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers’ Party, at midnight, with the deployment of an ICBM.
