The Yemeni government welcomes the decision to designate the Houthi group a “terrorist organization”

The Yemeni government welcomed the US State Department’s decision to classify the Houthi group as a foreign terrorist organization, noting in a statement that this “is consistent with the Yemeni government’s demands to punish these terrorist militias.”

In its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs indicated the need to “continue to escalate and intensify all political and legal pressures on the Houthis in order to create conditions conducive to a peaceful solution to the conflict, which aims to find a final solution to this tragic and protracted conflict in Yemen.”

“The Houthis deserve to be classified as a foreign terrorist organization, not only for their terrorist acts, but also for their permanent efforts to prolong the conflict and cause the worst humanitarian disaster in the world,” the ministry said.
