Oman: Two decrees to regulate the transition and governance of the mandate of the Sultanate

Oman News Agency said, Monday, that Sultan Haitham bin Tariq issued two Royal Decrees related to the new Basic Law of the state and the Oman Council Law.

The Omani Agency revealed that Sultan Haitham had issued the new Basic Law of the state, which provides for “setting up a specific and stable mechanism for the transfer of the mandate of government in the Sultanate and establishing a mechanism for appointing the Crown Prince, stating his duties and powers and emphasizing the principle of the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary as a basis for governance in the state.”

She added, “Within the framework of the governance of state institutions, the Basic Law devotes a special chapter to follow up and control government performance, by establishing a committee that follows His Majesty the Sultan to followAnd evaluate the performance of ministers, secretaries of ministries and the like, and devise a special text for the state’s financial and administrative oversight body to support its role in achieving that governance.
