The Slack communications platform broke down yesterday, on the first working day of 2021, and the service soon returned hours later.The company has said that customers may have trouble downloading channels or contacting the platform at this time.

“Our team is investigating and we will follow up with more information as soon as we get it, and we apologize for any inconvenience that may occur,” she added.

The outage affects both the website and the smartphone app, as well as affects users’ ability to send and receive messages.

Users began reporting issues around 6 pm Makkah time, and the company released its first update about the issue at 6:15 pm.

The platform was initially reporting problems with connection to the service and messaging, and it turned into a complete outage of the service at 6:20 pm, according to its status page.

The page shows that all Slack services, including logins, messages, calls, and communications, are not available.
