Saudi Architecture and Design Commission chiefs on Tuesday opened registration for the King Salman Charter for Architecture and Urbanism Award, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The award recognizes environmental projects that uphold the charter’s principles while encouraging high-quality built designs.

Its categories are for completed, unbuilt, and university student projects.

Project owners, design firms, and students are all eligible to apply. Each track has its own set of requirements, and submissions will be evaluated by a jury of leading architects using specific criteria.

Launched in 2021, the award reflects King Salman’s keenness to create a distinct contemporary urban identity based on authenticity, continuity, human-centricity, livability, innovation, and sustainability.
