Netflix has released the first look at Marvel star Anthony Mackie’s new action movie Outside the Wire.

Set in the near future, the film sees drone pilot Harp (Black Mirror star Damson Idris) sent into a deadly militarized zone. He teams up with top-secret android officer Leo (Avengers: Endgame’s Mackie) to locate a doomsday device before the insurgents find it, as they embark on their mission to stop a deadly nuclear attack.

The trailer, which you can watch above, promises plenty of high-octane action, with Leo promising a concerned Harp that he is “special enough for both of us” as he shows off the incredible abilities of his android body, before getting straight to work beating up villains.

The movie is directed by Mikael Håfström, with a script written by Alice Allemano, Arash Amel, Rowan Athale and Rob Yescombe. Outside the Wire will roar onto Netflix on January 15.

Mackie clearly can’t get enough of heading into action as he also recently signed up to lead another Netflix action movie, The Ogun.

The movie will see Mackie’s character Xavier Rhodes take his teenage daughter to Nigeria to try to find a cure for the rare genetic condition he’s passed on to her. But when she is kidnapped, Xavier goes on a rampage through the criminal underworld to track his daughter down before it’s too late.

The actor is also reprising his role as Sam Wilson/Falcon in upcoming MCU Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, alongside Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also see the return of Marvel characters Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) and Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp).

The series will debut in 2021, having been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mackie recently described filming under social distancing restrictions as “rough”, saying: “You’re literally living in quarantine.”
