Great British Bake Off’s Nadiya Hussain turned down I’m a Celeb this year

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! may be done and dusted for 2020, though it seems we could have seen Nadiya Hussain compete to be Queen of the Castle.

The Great British Bake Off winner has admitted she actually turned down a chance to appear on the ITV series this year – and she’s already had regrets about the decision.

“I got asked to do I’m a Celebrity this year, and a bit of me regrets not doing it,” she told The Guardian.

“It’s just so cold in Wales: if I’m going to have cockroaches in my pants I’d rather it be in the sun, thanks. Still, I can’t help wondering what it would have been like.”

While Giovanna Fletcher walked away with the crown this year, we’re sure Nadiya could have given her a run for her money. Maybe 2021 is calling?

The baker also revealed that she’s turned down the chance to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, expressing fears that it would ruin her enjoyment of watching it.

“I got asked to do Strictly, but I said no,” she said. “I love the idea, but have no rhythm and I enjoy watching it too much; once you see how a programme works from the inside, it changes how you see it. That’s why I can’t watch Bake Off like I used to.”

On the subject of Bake Off, Nadiya has admitted she wouldn’t be keen to do a potential All Stars version of the hit baking series.

“I don’t know that I would ever do something like that,” she told Digital Spy and other media earlier this month. “Whoever puts themselves through something like that twice? Once was enough, thank you very much. It was so stressful.”

I’m a Celebrity airs on ITV. The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4. In the US, it’s known as The Great British Baking Show, with new episodes on Netflix.
