Queen’s Gambit’s Anya Taylor-Joy was starstruck meeting Harry Potter’s Harry Melling

Anya Taylor-Joy has revealed which of her Queen’s Gambit co-stars she was starstruck to meet.

The New Mutants actress plays troubled teen-turned-chess-prodigy Beth Harmon in the record-breaking Netflix series, based on Walter Tevis’ novel.

And, speaking recently, Anya revealed she was actually starstruck meeting her co-star Harry Melling.

Melling plays Harry Beltik in the series but is perhaps best known for playing Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter film series.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Anya confessed she is a huge fan of the Potter franchise and was excited about the prospect of meeting Melling.

However, she did add the caveat that she waited a few minutes after meeting him to broach the subject of her Potter fandom.

“I timed it correctly, which is not in the first 10 minutes, but not exceeding 10 minutes,” she said.

“You have to get it out of the way… [otherwise] it gets weird and then you kept something from them.

“So, it’s better just to get it out of the way.”

The Queen’s Gambit recently broke a huge Netflix record, while it was also recently revealed that it has an unexpected Heath Ledger connection.
