The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Najran conducted 58 inspection tours in the city and its affiliated governorates to ensure proper implementation of the water system and its executive regulations.

The branch said that supervisory teams have seized three artesian well drilling rigs that were operating without a permit. It is working to complete legal procedures and apply implementation regulations against the violators.

The branch highlighted the importance of issuing a legal permit to drill wells, to organize and control the drilling and rehabilitation of wells, to extract groundwater, and to contract wells drilling by issuing the required licenses.

Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of controlling the quantities of the extracted groundwater as per the license in order to ensure the fairness and sustainability of water resources.

The ministry’s branch said that the deadline to disclose unlicensed well drilling to individuals, government agencies, or the private sector, ends on Sept. 4, after its extension.
