In a soon-to-be-released memoir, Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump, revealed that he had cancer and was treated for it while working in the White House, and was able to keep the matter secret.

Kushner stated, according to chapters of the book published by the “New York Times”, that he learned of his thyroid cancer in October 2019, and that was during his participation in negotiations with China over the trade deal, and only a small group of those close to him knew about it.

Trump’s son-in-law wrote in his memoirs, noting that he asked the White House physician, Sean Conley, after he was informed of his cancer, “not to tell anyone, especially his wife Ivanka and her father Trump.

Kushner recounted that he later told his wife, Ivanka, that he had cancer, along with a small group of other aides.

Trump’s son-in-law explained that his cancer was discovered early, and therefore it was treated, and that required “removing a large section of the thyroid gland,” and doctors warned him that this surgical intervention might harm his voice.

He stated that he decided to perform the surgery on the “Thanksgiving Day” holiday, in order not to be absent from his office for more time, noting on the other hand that Donald Trump knew about the matter, but respected his privacy.

In this regard, Trump’s son-in-law wrote that US President Trump then called him to the White House a day before the surgery, and inquired of him if he was worried about surgical intervention, so he (from Kushner) only asked him how he knew about it, Trump replied, saying : “I am the boss and I know everything.”
