Several well-informed sources said that the negotiating parties on the grain export issue have made great progress, but there are still technical problems to be resolved.
Negotiations were held in Istanbul between military delegations from Turkey, Russia and Ukraine and a delegation from the United Nations, on the settlement of the Ukrainian grain issue.
The meeting agreed on several points, but there are still some sticking points. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan are discussing this issue during their meeting in Tehran.

The Russian Foreign Ministry had confirmed that Moscow would not obstruct the export of grain from Ukrainian ports on condition that ships be inspected to prevent arms smuggling, and Kyiv gave up provocations.
Speaking to “Sputnik World”, Dr. Mukhtar Ghobashi, Vice President of the Arab Center for Political and Strategic Studies, said that Turkey is making a great effort in this area due to its good relations with Russia.
Ghobashi added, “I think that Russia appreciated this Turkish intervention to solve this crisis, and obtained from Turkey guarantees and pledges related to the ships exporting food and the transit route, and to secure these ships from not being reached by the hands of the Ukrainian arms.”
Ghobashi explained that one of the things that complicated the issue was the interference from some countries, especially the United States, which is very annoying to Russia, which talked about lifting sanctions imposed on the export of grain, and that Russia has the right to ensure that the ships do not carry any military equipment to the Ukrainian party or carry what threatens national security. Russian.
Ethiopia continues to fill the third filling of the Renaissance Dam, and the United States urges tripartite cooperation
Egyptian water expert Abbas Sharaki said that satellites showed that 7 days after the start of the third storage of the Renaissance Dam, more than one billion cubic meters of storage in the dam has been completed.
This comes with the continued opening of the two drainage gates that bring out 60 million cubic meters per day, bringing the total revenue last week to about 1.5 billion cubic meters, while half a billion cubic meters were drained through the two drainage gates and the remaining billion was seized.
The third storage is expected to be about 5 billion m3 in addition to the storage of the past two years, bringing the total to about 13 billion m3.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed the issue during his meeting in Jeddah with US President Joe Biden, who urged re-entering tripartite negotiations between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to resolve the crisis, although negotiations that lasted for about 10 years yielded nothing.
Speaking to “Sputnik World”, Noureddine Abda Alo, a writer specializing in Ethiopian and East African affairs, said that the question of when the filling ends officially and in practice is not known, but at least we take into account that the rains are heavy and their season continues, a period that will not be further than August, as it was announced. government at first.
Noureddine added that the mobilization does not affect the downstream countries, but according to Ethiopia’s point of view, Sudan benefits from this mobilization and others, especially in the rainy season, which, for example, seizes a reasonable amount of water from Sudan, which usually causes Sudan itself huge losses due to floods, and in the same way Egypt will not be affected With this mobilization at this stage directly, there are even reports that Egypt has already stored larger quantities, amounting to 170 billion cubic meters, and therefore the rainy season carries a benefit for all.
Turkish President threatens again to block Sweden and Finland’s NATO accession
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened on Monday to freeze Sweden and Finland’s accession to NATO if they did not respond to Turkish demands and conditions.
The Turkish president said his country would stop Finland and Sweden’s applications to join NATO, unless they fulfill the pledges they made last month to fight terrorism, adding that he believed Sweden was currently “not abiding well”.
The three countries signed an agreement at the NATO summit in Madrid last month to lift the Turkish veto in return for pledges to combat terrorism and arms exports. Turkey accuses the two countries of harboring Kurds whom Ankara considers “terrorists”.
Turkey said it would closely monitor the implementation of the agreement to ratify the two countries’ requests to join the EU.
Speaking to “Sputnik World”, Turkish political analyst Cavad Kok said that the Turkish government was dissatisfied with Finland’s performance and there were negative statements against Turkey about combating terrorism, and the reflection of this was very negative inside Turkey.
He pointed out that the opposition parties themselves said that this is a failure of the Turkish government, and because of this internal pressure, Erdogan said that Ankara is following up on the issue and whether they will actually fight terrorism or not! For this reason, he began to threaten them again, but the structure of the Finnish judiciary is completely different from the structure of the Turkish judiciary, and Cook added that the result is that they did not declare that the wanted groups are terrorist or extremist, and the equation is difficult.
