A journalist published an article in which he asserted that it was time to stop supporting the losing Ukraine, and force it to go to the negotiating table with Russia, in order to “avoid worse consequences.”
The writer and journalist Gian Michalisin published a lengthy report in the Italian version of the newspaper “Il Giornale”, in which he stressed that it was time “for the West to stop supporting the lost Ukraine and put it on the negotiating table with Moscow in order to prevent worse consequences than the confrontation with Russia.”
Shortly after the liberation of Lyschansk by Russian forces, NATO countries began to doubt that they should support Ukraine “as much as necessary” and postpone negotiations with the Kremlin.
In his article, Mikalcin also questioned whether it was worth waiting until November to host the Russia-NATO meeting at the G-20 summit in Indonesia.
The writer stressed that the Ukrainian armed forces cannot be compared with the Russian army. In addition, the belief that Western weapons, particularly HIMARS missile systems, could somehow alter the course of hostilities was described as an “illusion”.
The journalist warned of the dangers of an unprecedented rise in the prices of energy resources, “which the West needs so much.” Thus, according to the article’s forecast, the price of a barrel of oil in the fall may reach $380. At the same time, disagreements are inevitable in NATO regarding the possibility of conflict with Russia: “At least the Germans, the French and the Italians will not want to make sacrifices for the sake of the doomed Ukraine.”
He noted at the end of his article that “that is why many, from the White House to the Elysee Palace and to the German chancellor’s office in Berlin, are asking themselves whether it is better to agree now” with Russia.
