After 60 years, the “mystery” of America’s great escape returns to the fore

On a cold and foggy night in June 1962, 3 prisoners managed to escape from an American prison, and to this day they have not been found.

But a new announcement appeared this week, which may indicate that the issue that has preoccupied Americans for decades is not over yet.

They were afraid of being spotted by the prison guards in the watchtowers, but fortunately for them they were not spotted by the guards and they managed to escape from the prison on the island via a primitive boat, it is believed.

Alcatraz Federal Prison is located on an island in the Bay of San Francisco.

Alcatraz Federal Prison was built in 1934 to punish the most dangerous criminals on an isolated island, and the American authorities chose San Francisco Bay, due to its strong currents, which no human can bypass, as well as the presence of sharks in it.

Prisoners Frank Morin and brothers John and Clarence Anglin were portrayed in the 1979 movie Escape From Alcatraz.

Among the theories that have been put forward to explain the mystery of the disappearance of the three prisoners is that they died by drowning, as a result of the Gulf currents that overturned the primitive boat believed to be carrying them.

This theory was based on the fact that after the disappearance of the three men, belongings belonging to the Anglin brothers appeared on a California beach, such as photographs and personal letters.

However, the bodies of the prisoners were not found, which led some to believe that the prisoners succeeded in escaping and overcoming the sea obstacle, and they left these belongings only to mislead the authorities and convince them of the futility of searching for them.

This theory gained new momentum, finally, 60 years after the accident, when the “Marshalls” agency responsible for hunting fugitives celebrated the anniversary of their escape.

The agency released rough images of what the fleeing prisoners would look like at the moment.

These prisoners – if they are alive – are in their nineties, their faces are greatly wrinkled, and their hair is gray.

The photo came as part of an announcement from the agency with phone numbers to contact authorities to assist in the “ongoing investigation”, indicating that authorities believe they may still be alive.

The authorities did not indicate if there were new leads in the case that prompted them to publish the advertisement after 60 years of the case.
