Samsung introduces the smallest camera sensor for a 200-megapixel smartphone for the first time

South Korea’s Samsung has unveiled its first 200-megapixel smartphone camera sensor, which will help manufacturers keep their smartphones slim.
The new ISOCELL HP3 sensor features attractive technical tricks, such as the ability to focus on every pixel, batching for better low-light capability, as well as a multi-gain ISO for maximum dynamic range, according to an official statement.
Samsung’s smallest sensor is 1/1.4 inch in size, which is somewhat large for a smartphone, but too small for a 200MP sensor.
Other than producing high-resolution images, the new sensor enables 8K video recording at 30 frames per second, and 4K video at 120 frames per second, while using almost the entire width of the sensor.

The ISOCELL HP3 sensor also provides a color depth of 14 bits (4 trillion colors), as well as Super QPD technology, a single lens with over 4 pixels, which enables faster and more accurate AF.
Samsung is scheduled to start producing the ISOCELL HP3 sensor this year, and it will be used in 200-megapixel phones next year 2023.
