Gigi’s Daughter’s Designer Bag Collection Is Already Up And Running

Jacquemus’s teeny tiny Le Chiquito bag (you know the one) has found its ideal owner. The brand’s creative director Simon Porte Jacquemus gifted a snow-white version of the micro purse to Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s new baby girl – not dissimilar to the pristine Le Petit Bambino bag Gigi herself modelled in the autumn/winter 2020 show – along with a cosy teddybear onesie.

The master of miniature accessories first unveiled Le Chiquito on his autumn/winter 2019 runway, where it was clasped carefully in between the manicured fingers of models, or slung across their torsos as they walked. Just two inches wide, its dimensions allow for a sprinkling of loose change or a (very small) lipstick. Fabulously impractical, the bag swiftly achieved cult status with editors and influencers. Various shapes, sizes and styles have succeeded the initial model, including (relatively) capacious Grand Chiquitos that can accommodate more than a credit card.

Due to its popularity, the OG petite purse is now hard to come by. But thanks to her mother’s fashionable friend, Gigi’s daughter – whose name is yet to be revealed – is already in possession of a highly-coveted investment piece. She can even play dress up with her aunty Bella Hadid, who has been spotted with a scaled-up sunshine-yellow version.Gigi has been relatively quiet on social media since giving birth, but recently took a moment to thank friends, family and fans for their well wishes. The supermodel shared snaps to Instagram of some of baby Zigi’s gifts – Juliet Johnstone sent some of her painterly designs, while “Uncle Jimmy [Fallon]” sent a hamper.

The new mum shared a note that read: “I just want to put out there… while I have the time, that when I do thank-you’s on here, I think of the so many generous gifts we have received that haven’t gotten a public ‘thanks’. I am overwhelmed with how many beautiful things this little one has already been spoiled with by people I love – and I will slowly probably share them.”

Among all the baby gifts, the new parents hadn’t been forgotten. Rosaluna Mezcal founder Nate Brown sent Gigi and Zayn a bottle to enjoy post-bedtime. “Date night ’bout to be lit,” said the super.
