Twitter “circles”… a new feature that will privatize some tweets

67

Twitter has started testing a new feature since the beginning of this month, which will prevent all users from viewing specific tweets.
Twitter is currently testing a feature called “Circles”, which allows all its users to select a group of people to read their tweets, akin to the “Close Friends” feature.
And when the “Circles” feature is finally approved, a drop-down menu will appear when you start writing a new tweet, which has the option to share it to “everyone” or to “a circle”, in order to limit its viewing to a specific audience.

Twitter allows adding up to 150 users to the circle, whether they are followers or not.
Users in their circle will see a note that reads: “Only people in X’s Twitter circle can see this Tweet.”
Tweeting to a “circle” is like having a private account, in that it privatizes specific tweets, rather than restricting access to the entire profile.
People in the circle won’t be able to retweet anything posted on it, but they can still take a screenshot and download the tweets shown to them.
The “Circles” feature is still being tested on some Twitter users, and will not be widely rolled out to everyone until further notice.
