Opening of the Festival of the First National Russian Theater in Moscow

The Petersburg Alexandrinsky Theater Festival, as the first dramatic theater in Russia, opened on March 25 with the performance of the play “The Birth of Stalin” directed by Valery Fokin at the Chekhov Art Theater in Moscow.
The festival also includes the play “Pistol” directed by Tozopoulos (March 28), the play “Children of the Sun” inspired by the play of the Russian writer of the twentieth century, Maxim Gorky (March 31) and others.
It is noteworthy that the play “The Birth of Stalin” tells the story of the transformation of the young revolutionary, Yusuf Johashvili, into a tyrant. Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel “Demons” formed the basis for the play directed by the prominent theater director, Valery Fokin.
On the other hand, the “Chekhov” Art Theater in Moscow has also moved to Petersburg, where the play “The Will of Baron Munchausen”, presented by Viktor Kramer, presented on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, where the artistic director of the Chekhov Art Theater in Moscow Konstantin Khabensky will play the role of the baron.
It is noteworthy that the Petersburg Alexandrinsky Theater Festival is the first visit of Petersburg theater artists to Moscow since the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The theater festivals in Moscow and Petersburg will continue until April 1.
