The Eiffel Tower is getting taller thanks to a new communication antenna

79
The Eiffel Tower rose six meters tall on Tuesday after engineers hoisted a new communications antenna above the peak of one of France’s most famous landmarks.
Tourists from Trocadero watched the new digital antenna flown by helicopter.
To this, Jean-Francois Martin, president of the company that operates the Eiffel Tower, said that scientific progress was an integral part of the tower’s 132-year history, known locally as the “Iron Lady”.
“Since the invention of radio at the beginning of the 20th century and now. Decades after decades, the Eiffel Tower has been a partner to all broadcasting technologies, so we’re back this morning again.”
The Eiffel Tower was only 312 meters tall when it opened in 1889, and after this latest addition, the tower is now 330 meters tall.
