The Paris Philharmonia has canceled the performances of the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra, led by Maestro Valery Gergiev, which was supposed to take place next April in the French capital.

This is due to the recent developments in Ukraine. This was announced Monday, February 28, by the press office of the Philharmonia. A statement published by the press office read: “Amendments have been included in the program of concerts of the Mariinsky Theater led by Valery Gergiev on April 9-10 at the Pierre Boulez Hall in Paris. The statement indicated that the concerts were canceled due to recent developments in Ukraine.

The Philharmonic of Paris intends to announce soon additional changes that may affect its report, noting that decisions will be taken in accordance with the recommendations of the French government.

It is noteworthy that the German Philharmonia Orchestra of Munich announced yesterday the dismissal of its conductor, Valery Gergiev.

As for the Carnegie Theater (Carnegie Hall), in New York, it said earlier that Valery Gergiev will not lead the Vienna Philharmonia Orchestra in concerts that will be held next week, and the theater canceled Friday’s concert with the participation of the well-known Russian pianist, Denis Matsuev. The theater “La Scala” demanded from Valery Gergiev to make a call for a peaceful solution in Ukraine.
