US President Joe Biden called on Americans not to worry about the idea of a nuclear war, against the backdrop of Russia’s announcement yesterday to put its “nuclear deterrent forces” on the highest alert level.
“No,” Biden said Monday, when asked if Americans should be concerned about a nuclear war.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine after the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk requested help to defend themselves from the intense attacks of Ukrainian forces.
On Friday, February 25, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) announced the activation of its response force for the first time in its history, as a defensive measure in response to the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
Last Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the military leadership to put the nuclear deterrent forces on high alert after aggressive statements from NATO countries.
“The West is not only taking aggressive economic steps, but NATO officials have made aggressive statements against Russia,” Putin said.
