Jeff Bezos asks a Dutch city to dismantle a historic bridge in order to cross his luxury yacht

Reports revealed that the Dutch city of Rotterdam had temporarily agreed to a request from American billionaire Jeff Bezos, the founder of “Amazon”, regarding the dismantling of part of one of its historic bridges, in order to allow his luxury yacht to pass during the summer season of this year.
The city’s spokeswoman, Frances Fan, stressed that the shipbuilder, Oceanco, would cover the costs of dismantling the bridge instead of the city, while she did not have an estimate of the cost of dismantling, according to the Washington Post.
Reports suggest that the historic bridge to be dismantled is Koningscheven, which was built in 1927 as a national monument, after it was decommissioned in 1994, given its importance as the first in Western Europe.
The city of Rotterdam completed a three-year restoration of the Koningscheffen Bridge in 2017, and pledged not to dismantle it again.

Jeff Bezos’ luxury yacht is 417 feet long, includes 3 masts and several decks, and is scheduled to be the largest sailing yacht in the world, and is currently under construction in Placerdam, and is believed to cost about $500 million.
