Dating app Tinder develops new tools for reporting abuse

Match Group, the owner of the popular dating app Tinder, has revealed the development of new features and tools to improve the ability to report abuse and facilitate matchmaking between users.

The company said Tinder users will be able to access the background information of people they approve of in traits, through the not-for-profit website Garbo, which was acquired by Match Group last year.

In addition to the ability to check and identify people’s backgrounds, the Tinder app will add more updates to its security tools, as there will be internal training on how to support users of the app who are experiencing sexual abuse or harassment. It will also provide more direct means to report exposure to any abuse through the application, with the ability to follow up on the reporting information if the user chooses to do so.

“Our members entrust us with a very sensitive and dangerous part of their lives, and we believe we have a responsibility to support them during every part of their journey (in using the app), including when they experience bad experiences either through the app or away from him.”

These updates come at a time when dating and dating apps and platforms are facing increasing scrutiny from the regulatory authorities, with greater responsibility for the safety of users of these applications and protecting them from any abuse or exploitation as a result of using the applications.
