Arsenal jump to the top four with a win over West Ham

94

Arsenal jumped into the English Premier League semi-finals at the expense of West Ham United, when Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe scored to win the hosts 2-0 at their guest on Wednesday.

Brazilian Martinelli opened the scoring at the end of the first half, and substitute Rowe won in the 87th minute.

Arsenal could have won by a bigger score but Alexandre Lacazette recklessly missed a penalty midway through the second half.

West Ham, whose player Vladimir Shuval was sent off after being awarded a penalty, produced the same mediocre performance that helped them jump to the top four since October.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale saved the only chance from the away team through Jerrod Bowen moments after Martinelli’s goal.

Arsenal jumped two places to fourth place after raising his tally to 29 points from 17 games, one point ahead of West Ham.
