Inter Milan, the Italian Serie A champions, said in a statement that its Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen, will not be able to play in Italy this season due to a heart attack he suffered during the European Championship 2020, but the club indicated its willingness to allow the player to move. out of Italy.

Midfielder Eriksen fell on the field in Denmark’s opening match in a 1-0 loss to Finland on June 12, but recovered after saving his life on the field with the help of teammates and medical staff before being taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated with a pacemaker implant.

In August, Francesco Bracconaro, a member of the Italian Football Association’s technical and scientific committee, said he would not allow Eriksen to play in Italy until the pacemaker was removed, according to “Reuters”.

Inter Milan said in a statement last night: “With regard to the registration rights of the player Eriksen, it should be noted that following the serious injury he sustained during the European Championship in June 2021, the Italian medical authorities imposed a ban on the player from practicing sports activities during the current season.”

The statement added, “Although the player does not meet the fitness requirements required to practice sports activity in Italy, he may be able to achieve this in other countries where he can practice competitive activities.”

It is not yet clear to what extent other countries will allow Eriksen to play competitive sports with a pacemaker.

Inter Milan occupies third place among the Italian league teams with 21 points from 10 matches, seven points behind Napoli and AC Milan, the leaders.
