Scientists named one of the signal sources the name “FRP 121102,” which was spotted by an American astrophysicist named Laura Spitler in 2014, and the magazine said that this source impressed astronomers in particular.

Scientists conducted recent observations between August and October 2019 in China, using a spherical radio telescope with a diameter of 500 meters.

At that time, they were able to record 1,652 radio signals from this unknown source in just 47 days.

For his part, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas and co-author of the study, Ping Zhang, said the scientists’ latest effort constitutes the largest sample of the observed signals so far.
