Russian doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov spoke on the air of the channel “Russia 1” about the common mistake when choosing a potato, which can cause poisoning.

According to him, the discussion is about the green tubers appearing on the potato itself.

Myasnikov warned that “the green parts of the potato contain the toxic compound solanine.”

Myasnikov advised eating mashed or boiled potatoes with their peels, because they contain potassium, which is useful for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. He also recommended giving preference to fresh potatoes first picked.
