Joey Chestnut broke his own world record to win the 14th Nathan Hot Dog Eating Contest.

On Sunday, July 4, Chestnut ate 76 hot dogs in just 10 minutes, breaking the previous record he set when he ate 75 hot dogs in the same period.

Speaking to ESPN, Chestnut said, “I was feeling relaxed. Even if I wasn’t comfortable, seeing everyone cheering and cheering for me made me feel good.”

It is noteworthy that this competition has become an American tradition, and is usually held on the fourth of July in front of the Nathan’s sausage shop in Coney Island, New York, according to what the British newspaper “The Independent” reported.

But this year’s competition was held at Maimonides Park, a small baseball stadium in Brooklyn, in compliance with coronavirus restrictions. The audience included 5,000 spectators.
