The Devil Wears Prada writer explains what happened to the characters after 15 years

The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna has revealed what happened to the characters 15 years on.

The film was released in 2006 and to celebrate its 15th anniversary, McKenna recently gave her verdict on what the likes of Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep), Andy (Anne Hathaway) and Emily (Emily Blunt) would be up to in the modern world.

Telling Entertainment Weekly that Andy would ‘have a podcast on Slate or work for Axios’, she also confirmed Andy and her unsupportive partner Nate (Adrian Grenier) would no longer be together.

Revealing that Emily has “done something fantastic, maybe married some sort of minor member of the Scandinavian Royal Family”, McKenna said only Nigel (Stanley Tucci) and Miranda are left navigating the tricky minefield of fashion journalism.

“Miranda still has her fingernails into the difficult climbing wall that is fashion and media and has probably only expanded her range…. Nigel is still by her side,” she said.

“I don’t think he ever gets out. It’s the Faust story, and he’s in hell. He’s still ferrying people back and forth across the River Styx, because he doesn’t have a choice.”

McKenna also revealed Nate is “still working in various restaurants and kitchens.”

Speaking recently, Nate actor Adrian Grenier responded to the viral fan theory purporting his character as the real Devil Wears Prada villain.

He also told Entertainment Weekly: “It hadn’t occurred to me until I started to really think about it… in many ways he’s very selfish and self-involved, it was all about him, he wasn’t extending himself to support Andy in her career.”
