British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he is very confident he can lift remaining restrictions on the coronavirus by the new target date of July 19 based on the latest data.

He added in a press interview, “I am very confident that we will be able to move forward with the fourth step of the roadmap in the timetable that I set to deal with Corona.. July 19, as I said, will be a final date.”

This comes at a time when the “Delta” strain of the Corona virus, which was first discovered in India, continues to spread with increasing rates in the United Kingdom.

And the Public Health Authority in England announced today, Friday, that it had recorded 33,630 new cases of the highly infectious Indian strain during the last week (compared to 29,892 and 12,431 cases in the previous two weeks, respectively), noting that the total number of infections with the “Delta” strain became 75,953.

The authority pointed out that “Delta” infections currently constitute 91 percent of the total number of new cases in England.
