Satellite images showed the charred hull remaining from Iran’s largest warship, after it caught fire and sank in the Gulf of Oman.
Pictures taken by Planet Labs show the warship Khark leaving 207 meters off the coast of the Iranian port city of Jask, surrounded by oily water.

Iranian officials did not acknowledge the pollution left by the sinking of the ship on Wednesday, while pictures show the ship partially submerged with wreckage floating on the water around it.

Iranian state media reported that 400 sailors and trainees on board the ship had been evacuated, while 33 were injured in the accident.

Iranian officials did not give any reason for the fire.

For its part, the US Navy accused Iran of using timed explosives that divers usually attached to the hulls of ships, which Tehran denied.
