“People Online” … a documentary project by Palestinian journalist Muhammad Asaad in the depths of the Gaza Sea

The Palestinian photographer, Muhammad Asaad, was a guest on the “People Online” program to tell us about his artistic and documentary project on marine life in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian photographer aims, through his work, to break the stereotype drawn for the Palestinian journalist, whose mission is usually to photograph the disasters and suffering of the Palestinian people, and to transform them into a creative and artistic environment through his project to photograph the rich marine life in the depths of the Gaza Sea, so that many do not believe that this exists in Gaza, he said.

Regarding the difficulties he faces during his work, Asaad said that his simple capabilities used in this work do not allow him to shoot for a long time, as he tries in every shot to take it for one minute, because he does not have professional diving tools or oxygen bottles, and pollution is one of the difficulties that stand In front of his work, he said, as the sewage water is flowing towards the sea.

Regarding the development of this profession, the Palestinian photographer added that diving courses are suspended to increase the staff working in this field, as diving equipment is also not available to go into the water.
