Juventus is in danger and its European hopes may fade after a humiliating loss to Milan

Juventus lost 3-0 to Milan, on Sunday, in the 35th round of Calcio.

Juventus, who started the season, is looking to win its tenth successive Serie A title in Serie A, but instead finds himself in danger of not qualifying for the Champions League.

Today’s loss put Juventus in fifth place, after it was in a strong struggle with Milan, its rivals for the golden box, three games before the end.

Brahim Diaz, Ante Rebi and Vicayo Tomori scored the goals to make Milan jump to third place with 72 points from 35 games, and Juventus remain one point behind fourth-placed Napoli, and the two teams need to squander points in their struggle to finish the season in the golden box.

Diaz scored the first goal with a superb shot just before the break to give Milan the lead, and the visiting team had the opportunity to double the score in the 56th minute, but Frank Casey hit a weak ball from the penalty spot, which was saved by goalkeeper Wojciech Steinensen.

But the missed penalty did not cost Milan much, and substitute Rebic scored 12 minutes before the end before defender Tomori, on loan from Chelsea, scored the third goal with a header to clinch the victory of Milan four minutes later.

After being accustomed to competing for the league title in the past, Juventus and Milan looked like two teams who were not sure to finish the season in the semi-finals in the tense first half.

Aside from a header from Giorgio Chiellini, Juventus struggled to create chances, and Cristiano Ronaldo gave a quiet game.

Diaz lit up the bad first half after a ball that Stencin did not clear well with his fist, and the player on loan from Real Madrid hit the top corner of the goal in his first participation in the starting line-up with Milan since March.

In the second half, Juventus’ performance improved and Ronaldo finally hit the target, but could not score with his left foot, while Milan had to change its scorer this season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, due to injury.

Chiellini’s reckless handball gave Milan the opportunity to boost his lead after reviewing the game via video. But Stensenyi saved Juventus, which was the Polish goalkeeper’s third penalty from among the last four penalties awarded to Milan against Juventus in the league.

Ibrahimovic’s substitute, Ripic, was the one who practically ended Juventus’s hopes of coming out with something from the match, before Tomori seized the opportunity to score his first goal with Milan.

After the final whistle, Milan players and the coaching staff celebrated their first away victory over Juventus since March 2011, a result that put him in a strong position to return to the Champions League, likely at the expense of his rivals.
