The expert specializing in astronomical and geophysical studies, Dr. Khaled Al-Zaq, revealed signs that the Arabs used in the past to determine the times.

According to Ajel, a specialist in astronomical and geophysical studies, Dr. Khaled Al-Zaq, said today, Tuesday, that the sun, moon and stars are among the signs that the Arabs used to determine the times.
Al-Zaq added that the sun was used to determine the beginning of the day, the moon for the beginning of the month, and the star for the beginning of the season, and he cited the words of the Arab poet: “If the sun rises, say hello to a verse of greetings upon you when the sun shines, and ten if it is yellow and it is about to return.”

Al-Zaaq explained that the moon revolves around the earth counterclockwise in a cycle that takes 27 and a half days, and if it completes this cycle, then that means that the earth has moved from its place, because the earth also revolves around the sun, so it takes the moon to catch up with it two days, so the total is 29 and a half days.

He emphasized that the moon revolves around the globe with an elliptical orbit, sometimes it is close to the earth, so the length of the month is 29 days, and sometimes it is far from the earth, and the month’s length is 30 days, indicating that the moon revolves around itself at the same time as it revolves around the earth, so we only see from the moon One face.
