The capital of American cinema, Hollywood, is preparing, Sunday evening, for its biggest annual night, in which the winners of the Oscar Film Awards are announced, in the ceremony that holds the 93rd edition.

 

Prize winners will be chosen by 9,000 members of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Among the surprises of Oscar 2021 is the competition for two Arab films, “The Man Who Sold His Back” from Tunisia, starring the Syrian Yahya Mahaini, the French Dia Lien, and the Italian star Monica Bellucci, and in 2020 and 2021 he won many prizes in Arab and Western film festivals.

The film “The Gift” by Palestinian director Farah Nabulsi was shortlisted for the Oscar for Best Short Film, which includes 5 films as well. The Oscars Announcement and Awards Ceremony will be held on April 25th.

Interestingly, at the 93rd Oscar Awards, the films nominated for the Best Film Award did not receive good follow-up from the public during the past year due to the circumstances of the emerging “Corona” virus, which clearly affected one of the most important sectors in America, which is the film industry, Represented by the closure of many cinemas, following precautionary measures, and the postponement of the release of many films, and some of them were shown directly on the electronic platforms.

Eight films will compete in the Oscars 2021:

– “Nomadic Land” (Nomadland)

Starring American actress, Frances McDormand, and directed by Chloe Chow, and deals with unfulfilled American promises, people bent on fulfilling their promises to themselves and the spaces they seek to fulfill, through the story of a woman in her sixties, after losing everything in the Great Recession, embarks on a journey Across the American West and live as nomads into the modern era.

Directed by Aaron Sorkin, its events revolve around the story of 7 people under trial for various charges related to the uprising at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Biography directed by David Fincher and produced by the American network “Netflix”, and starring the veteran actor, Gary Oldman, who has many complex roles such as the late British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill in the movie “The Dark Hours”.

The movie re-introduces 1930s Hollywood through the eyes of the biting social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Hermann J. Mankiewicz, as he raced against time to finish the script for his hit movie “Citizen Kane.”

– “Promising Young Woman” (promsing Yang Women)

A thriller drama with Carrie Malligan, whose events include the role of a young woman who is traumatized by a tragic event in her past, and seeks revenge against those who destroyed her life.

Directed by Lee Isaac Chang, it is about a Korean family who establish a farm in the US state of Arkansas in the 1980s.

– “The Father” (The Father)

Starring the veteran British actor, Anthony Hopkins, he plays a demented man who refuses all help from his daughter as he gets older, and as he tries to understand his changing circumstances, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his mind, and even the fabric of his reality.

– “The Sound of Metal” (Sound of Metal)

Directed by Darius Marder and starring Muslim Riz Ahmed, this musical drama deals with the story of a heavy metal drummer, whose life takes a free fall when he loses his hearing.

– “Judas and the Black Messiah” (Judas and the Black Messiah)

Directed and produced by Shaka King, it is an autobiographical drama based on the life of Fred Hampton, the president of the Black Panther Party in the late 1960s in Illinois.

This year’s Oscar concert will be held for the first time from inside a train station in downtown Los Angeles, which houses a stunning Art Deco building.

However, the organizers did not disclose clearly the details of the ceremony, which will have a limited audience, and the ABC network will broadcast it live.
