Residents of “Nikshehr” in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan attacked a store selling chicken and looted its contents after this food item became scarce in the Iranian market.

The “Independent” website published the Persian version via “Twitter”, a video clip showing a number of men and women attacking a store selling chicken in light of its high prices and its unavailability in recent markets for several months.

“The country’s economy is going through many bottlenecks and difficulties,” the Iranian First Vice President and Head of the government’s Economic Committee, Ishaq Jahangiri, said Saturday, during his visit to the northeastern city of Mashhad.

“It is not appropriate for the Iranian people to stand in the line of chickens under our current administration of the government,” Jahangiri added, according to what was reported by the Tasnim news agency.

Recently, several videos and photos of Iranians were standing by in a number of cities in order to get one chicken per person at the government price.
