Today, Sunday, the Houthi forces of the “Ansar Allah” group announced that they had carried out a “large military operation” in the Saudi rear.
A spokesman for the Houthi forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said via Twitter: “An important statement for the armed forces in the coming hours to announce a large military operation in the Saudi depth.”

Earlier in the day, the Saudi-led Arab coalition announced that it had shot down 12 drones launched by the “Ansar Allah” group against the kingdom, against the backdrop of a new military escalation in Yemen.Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has led the Arab coalition, which has been waging intense military operations in Yemen in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government loyal to President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, which has been fighting the Iranian-backed Houthi forces who have controlled the capital, Sanaa, since 2014.
The military conflict has recently witnessed a sharp escalation, as the Houthis launched a large operation to control the Marib Governorate against government forces, which are supported by the Arab coalition with air strikes.

Against the background of this new episode of confrontation between the two sides, the Houthis intensified their attacks with drones and ballistic missiles on targets in Saudi Arabia that it says are military, while the Kingdom accuses the group of targeting civilian sites.

In response, the coalition launched a series of air strikes on sites in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, which is under the control of “Ansar Allah” and its allies, as part of a “qualitative operation” it launched against the Houthis in response to the escalation of their attacks on the Kingdom.
