The results of a recent study conducted on a wide range of British citizens confirmed the relationship of some foods to deaths among many, especially among children of school age.
A study conducted by the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London found that an allergy to cow’s milk is the most common cause of fatal allergic reactions in children and it increasingly affects adults.

The study showed that 26% of deaths among school-age children were due to a food allergy resulting from consuming cow’s milk.

Research has found that hospitalizations due to severe food allergies have tripled during the past twenty years, but the number of deaths has decreased overall, according to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”.

The study, published in the journal “BMJ”, monitored data for people who were hospitalized in Britain over a 20-year period, from 1998 to 2018.During this period, about 101,891 people were admitted to hospitals across Britain due to severe allergic reactions, and of these, 30,700 were due to food allergies.

The researchers found that the largest increase in food allergies was detected in children under the age of 15 years, and that 152 deaths were attributed to a severe allergic reaction to food, but the mortality rate decreased over time from 0.7% to 0.19%.
On the other hand, nuts were responsible for 46% of these deaths, but the study confirmed that cow’s milk was responsible for 26% of deaths in children and 5% of adults, 17 deaths out of 66 of school age.

The study stated: “Since 1992, there has been a declining trend in the percentage of deaths due to peanuts or walnuts, but deaths due to consumption of cow’s milk have increased.””We have observed an alarming increase in deaths due to cow’s milk, which is now the most common cause of fatal food poisoning in children in the United Kingdom,” the researchers added.
