According to the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, the problems of lonely people became particularly acute in the country during the Corona pandemic.

In 2020, the number of suicides in Japan rose for the first time in 11 years, reaching 20,919. Experts believe that during the epidemic, the lack of job opportunities and the increased burden of caring for children and the home raised the level of tension.
