The UAE comments on Biden’s decision to stop supporting the war in Yemen: This is the reason for our withdrawal

The United Arab Emirates, today, Thursday, commented on US President Joe Biden’s decision to stop supporting the war in Yemen.

The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anwar Gargash, tweeted on his official account on the Twitter site for social networking, explaining the reasons for his country to stop its war in Yemen: “The UAE ended its military intervention in Yemen in October of last year, in order to ensure the end of the war. The UAE has supported multiple UN efforts and peace initiatives. The UAE has been one of the largest providers of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people.

In another tweet, Gargash was keen to congratulate Timothy Lenderking on his appointment by US President Biden as a special envoy to Yemen.

“Lenderking’s expertise will bring expertise, while the participation of the United States will bring new and needed energy and focus to help solve the conflict and improve stability throughout the region,” Qarqas stressed.

Today, Thursday, US President Joe Biden announced the end of US support for offensive operations in Yemen. Yemen has been witnessing an armed conflict between government forces led by President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the “Ansar Allah” group since 2014.

An international coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched a military operation to support the internationally recognized Hadi government in 2015. Yet the Houthis still control most of the north of the country, including the capital, Sanaa.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said last week that Saudi Arabia had contributed to the worst ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

The United Nations considers the situation in Yemen to be the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, with more than 80% of the population, or 24.1 million people, in need of humanitarian aid.
