Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Brahim Taha will lead the OIC delegation at the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC member states in Yaounde, Cameroon, on Aug. 29-30.

The session’s theme is “Development of Transport and Communications Infrastructure within the OIC Framework: A Key Tool in the Fight against Poverty and Insecurity.”

It will address key issues such as Palestine and Jerusalem, science and technology, women, youth and the elderly, and humanitarian and economic affairs.

Taha will emphasize the OIC’s efforts to address challenges facing the Muslim world, including the intensifying Israeli attacks in Palestine, especially Gaza, and the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

He will also review OIC initiatives and projects undertaken since the 49th session in Mauritania in March 2023, following up on the resolutions from that session.

The 50th session in Yaounde coincides with the 50th anniversary of Cameroon’s accession to the OIC in 1974.
