The Royal Commission for AlUla has announced a substantial increase in the number of date palms in the region, which now totals 3.116 million. In March this year, the official figure given was “over 2 million.”

AlUla is one of the Kingdom’s largest date-producing regions, with palm farms covering around 16,660 hectares and producing approximately 116,000 tons of dates every year, of which the Barni variety is the most famous. The date harvest typically takes place between August and October.

The commission hosts an annual festival and date auction, offering farmers the chance to promote and sell their products both within the Kingdom and abroad. The agricultural sector is a key economic driver for the AlUla region.
