Kuwait called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to urge Israel to immediately join the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, state news agency KUNA has reported.

In a speech delivered by the Kuwait delegation to the United Nations, the delegation said the Israeli occupation refuses to subject its nuclear facilities to the system of the IAEA, despite the commitment of all Middle Eastern countries to the treaty.

The delegation, led by Sara AlAjmi, said Israel continues to reject the idea of creating a zone free of nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction in the region.

AlAjmi addressed the situation in Gaza and confirmed Kuwait’s firm stance in condemning the killings committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians.
